Warming the Heart

Things don't really grow well when it is cold. I was walking through my yard (before the first snow came), and glanced at my dormant blades of grass prepped for the winter freeze, my barren trees, and the nearby empty farm fields after the fall harvest. Signs of cold conditions were everywhere.

Jesus warned us about another type of cold that is far more deadly. The Apostle Matthew recorded Jesus’ prophetic words long ago when He said, “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)

Jesus predicted the season we see unfolding right before our eyes. Love is growing cold in many places around the world. Lost people don’t value life, and hate stirs up civil unrest everywhere. Divisions, wars, and sexual sins are ramped. Love in people’s heart has become dormant because people have ignored the Lord’s teachings.

What will warm them up? Who will shine the warmth of God’s light and stir up love again? We will! Those who learn to patiently abide in His presence will remain and thrive. It will be the light of our life that will cause people to turn back to God and open their ears and heart again.

Jesus went on to say, “But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:13-14)

Let me encourage you today! No matter how cold it gets, keep your light burning bright. Tend to the Word of God daily so that your love doesn’t freeze over. Stay warm.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, preserve the love You have put in my heart. I pray for my nation. I pray all will repent and turn back to You. I pray that Your people will rise and shine the warmth of your light everywhere they go. Amen.
